Microwave your sponge to kill 99% of germs and bacteria.
Just put sponges or plastic scrubbing pads in the microwave on high for 2 minutes and let it cool. According to studies, this works way better than putting them in the dishwasher.

Then, rub a faucet with waxed paper to prevent water spots and finger prints.
